The Bund

The Bund is an area of Huangpu District in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China. The area centers on a section of Zhongshan Road (East-1 Zhongshan Road) within the former Shanghai International Settlement, which runs along the western bank of the Huangpu River, facing Pudong, in the eastern part of Huangpu District. The Bund usually refers to the buildings and wharves on this section of the road, as well as some adjacent areas. The Bund is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Shanghai. Building heights are restricted in this area.

Yuyuan Garden is a famous classical garden located in Anren Jie, Shanghai. The garden was finished in 1577 by a government officer of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) named Pan Yunduan. Yu in Chinese means pleasing and satisfying, and this garden was specially built for Pan’s parents as a place for them to enjoy a tranquil and happy time in their old age.

Tianzifang is an arts and crafts enclave that has developed from a renovated residential area in the French Concession area of Shanghai, China. It comprises a neighborhood of labyrinthine alleyways off Taikang Road and is therefore also referred to as Taikang Road or Taikang Lu. Tianzifang is known for small craft stores, coffee shops, trendy art studios and narrow alleys. It has become a popular tourist destination in Shanghai, and an example of preservation of local Shikumen architecture, with some similarities to Xintiandi.

Tianzifang is largely hidden from the neighbouring streets, as it grew from the inside of the block outward, although there are now shops on Taikang Lu itself. Historically Lane #248 was a key entrance that, in order to gain access to the commercially developed area, required walking about 50m through whilst be surrounded by local residents' life, including bicycles, hanging laundry, etc. until finally emerging in the 'new' area.

Shanghai Museum is to the south of the People's Square in the downtown area.As a museum of ancient Chinese art, Shanghai Museum possesses a collection of 120,000 precious works of art. The museum style and presentation surround visitors with artifacts demonstrating ancient wisdom and philosophy. The exterior design of the round dome and the square base symbolizes the ancient idea of a round heaven and a square land. Its rich and high-quality collection of ancient Chinese bronze, ceramics, painting and calligraphy is specially celebrated in the world. The museum is divided into eleven galleries and three exhibition halls. The eleven Galleries cover most of the major categories of Chinese art: Ancient Bronze, Ancient Ceramics, Paintings, Calligraphy, Ancient Sculpture, Ancient Jade, Coins, Ming and Qing Furniture, Seals, and Minority Nationalities.

Garden of Master of Nets is situated on the southeast of Yukuojia Tou Lane in Suzhou ancient city. This exquisite garden was first designed during the Song Dynasty (960 - 1279) and it was later restored as the residence of a government official from whom the garden got its name. In 1997 it was inscribed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO. In 2003 it was listed as the National Tourist Attraction of Grade AAAA.

Grand Canal is the oldest and longest man-made waterway in the world. Parts of this canal between Hangzhou and Beijing date back more than 2000 years. Several million workers were required to construct and connect the many sections of the canal. Disuse and disrepair, flooding and silting have made parts of the canal unnavigable, but there are sections still in use and much traffic can still be seen on both the major and minor waterways. Other modes of transportation helped make the need for this form of transportation unnecessary.


Lingering Garden is located outside Changmen Gate in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. Originally a classical private garden, it is one of the four most famous gardens in China. Possessing typical Qing style, in 1997, the garden was recorded on the list of the world heritage by UNESCO. Like other famous gardens in Suzhou, the Lingering Garden seeks to create stunning natural landscapes within limited space. In this garden, domiciles, ancestral temples and private gardens are included. Buildings, trees, and flowers blend harmoniously with their surroundings.


Silk Factory is located on Nanmen Road near central Suzhou. The Suzhou Dongwu Silk Weaving Mill has a long history dating back to 1919 and enjoys remarkable fame at home and abroad. With the integrated production capacity of weaving, spinning and apparel making, its main products are pure silk, mixed woven silk and chemical filament for exportation. The mill is one of the key large-scale and the only Grade I state enterprise in China's silk industry. It has the ISO 9002 Certificate and has autonomous export and import power. A must for a visitor to Suzhou is Silk Factory Number One where it is possible to view silk production from worm to finished products.

West Lake

West Lake is a like a shining pearl inlaid on the vast land of China, reputed for beautiful scenery, a multitude of historical sites, brilliant cultural relics, and a profusion of native products. Most of the best known tourist sites lie around and within the lake. With a circumference of 15km, the lake area itself is easy for the visitor to negotiate.

Former Residence of Hu Xueyan was built in 1872. After hundreds of years, the residence was renewed by 29 million yuan of investment in Hangzhou and on January 20, 2001, it was formally opened. Hu Xueyan’s former home is located in Hangzhou HeFong Street, Dajing Alley historical and cultural protected areas in eastern. It was built in Tongzhi eleven years (1872), having more than 5.8 thousand square meters building area. The furniture and the use of materials in this former residence could be regarded as the best and most beautiful one in late Qing Dynasty China.

Hefang Street is part of Qinghefang, which is the old area of Hangzhou city. The street is about 18 kilometers long, showing the view from the late Qing Dynasty (1662-1911), which is by far the most representative street that can show the history and cultural value of Hangzhou.
