1. Foshan Manggong (Blind Man) Cake: It is one of the most famous specialties of Foshan that was initially created by a blind man one hundred and sixty years ago, hence its name. It is made of rice flour mixed with sugar, peanuts, sesame, pork, and cooking oil, tasting crisp and appetizing. The most well-known brand is made by the Foshan Heji Biscuits Industry Corporation.


2. Double-skin Milk (Shuang Pi Nai): It is praised as the top grade dessert here. Its raw material is boiled milk with added sugar and fresh albumen. After cooking, it becomes a bowl of milk with two layers of milk icing respectively on the top and the bottom of the container. And the most famous Double-skin Milk is in the Empress, a food shop in Shengping Road, Shunde District.

The recommended eating places to enjoy Wonton Noodle (Yunyun Noodle) are the chain of Yingji Noodle Restaurants. It has nineteen stores in the city proper. Made of elaborately simmered soup, fresh shrimps and wheat flour with eggs, the Wonton Noodle here is spoken highly of by visitors.

Best Time to Visit Foshan China

The climate of Foshan belongs to the tropical oceanic monsoon climate with its basic characteristics-warm and rainy for most of days. Its annual average temperature is 22°C, and the mean annual precipitation 1600 to 2000 mm. The rainy days are mostly during April and September, accounting for 80% of the mean precipitation. It is attacked by typhoon for two or three times every year. It often happens during July to September and the wind-force can reach level 12 or more. It is suitable to visit all the year round.


Information on Foshan Transport

Air Transport
There isn't an airport in Foshan and the closest airport is Baiyun Airport in Guangzhou. You can take the shuttle bus at Hongyun Bus Station from Foshan to the Baiyun Airport. It runs from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. every 30 minutes. The journey takes one hour and the ticket costs 28 Yuan.


Foshan is a city next to the sea. It has two passenger transportation harbors, namely, Shunde Harbor and South China Sea Pingzhou Harbor.

There are 6 passenger liners to Hong Kong every day in the Shunde Harbor, from 8:30 a.m. to 8:20 p.m. There are 6 liners from Hong Kong to Shunde Harbor. South China Sea Pingzhou Harbor has the liners to both Hong Kong and Guangzhou. Passenger liners to Hong Kong are available every day, while the ones to Guangzhou are only available on Saturday and Sunday. It takes about 30 minutes to Guangzhou. The ticket price is 8 Yuan and is half for kids.


Long Distance Buses
Foshan Bus Station is the hub for the highway passenger transportation in Foshan China. It makes a long-distance passenger transportation net covering nearly 100 cities or counties including Hunan, Sichuan, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangxi and Zhejiang. In addition, a lot of hotels have the shuttle buses to Hong Kong and Hong Kong Airport, costing around 3.5 hours.


Guangzhou to Zhanjiang Railway is connected with the whole country through Foshan. There are many trains to big and medium cities in China. It is very convenient to get to the station with bus NO. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 from the city center.
