1. Pearl River: Pearl River has a length of more than 2,000 kilometers and is the third longest river in China. 4. Shamian Island: Shamian, previous known as Zhongliusha or Shicuizhou, is an elliptic sandbar in the Liwan District of Guangzhou China. The island's name literally means "sandy surface" in Chinese. Surrounded by water, Shamian is just like a giant ship mooring alongside the wharf.

 

5. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall: Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, situated on the southern slope of Yuexiu Hill, was a monument to Dr Sun Yat-sen, the forerunner of Chinese democratic revolution. The masterpiece of architecture history is created with a span of 71 meters without a pillar but significant outlooks and delicate interior designs.


6. Temple of Six Banyan Trees: Having a long history of about 1,400 years, the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees is one of the four best Buddhist temples in Guangzhou China and located on the Liurong Road (meaning the Six Banyan Trees Road). It has a rich collection of cultural-relics and is renowned both at home and abroad.

 

7. Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family: Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family is also called Chen Clan Academy or Chen's Lineage Hall which was a place both for offering up sacrifices to ancestors and for study. Now it serves as Guangdong Museum of Folk Arts and Crafts to show the most characteristic Guangdong architecture.


8. South China Botanical Garden: South China Botanical Garden is located about 8 kilometers to the north of Guangzhou city and covers about 741 acres. It is the oldest and largest South Asian tropical botanical garden in China. It is also the botanical garden containing the most species in China, thus reputed as “Tropical and Sub-tropical Botanic Museum”.

 

9. Yuexiu Park: Yuexiu Park is the largest park in downtown Guangzhou China. Covering an area of 860,000 square meters, the park is made up of three artificial lakes and seven hills of Yuexiu Mountain. Yuexiu Park is a perfect combination of cultural relics and ecological tourism, reputed for its pretty water and hills as well as cultural relics.


10. Nansha Tianhou Palace: Nansha Tianhou Palace combines both the style of the Forbidden City in Beijing and the sublimity of Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum in Nanjing. It is the largest palace compound of its category in the world. It is reputed as the 'First Tianhou Palace under Heaven' and the biggest Mazu Temple in southeastern Asia.

Cantonese Cuisine
Guangzhou delicacies are the main representatives of Yue Cai (Cantonese Cuisine), which includes Guangzhou dishes, Chaozhou dishes and Dongjiang dishes and enjoys great popularity all over the country. Guangzhou cuisine uses a wide range of ingredients from the sky, the earth, and the water. They also use seasonings sparingly. Compared with other Chinese cuisines, Guangzhou dishes use few thick spicy dressings in order to keep from masking the original taste of the food. The most famous dishes of Guangzhou cuisine are Roast Suckling Pig (Kao Ru Zhu), Dragon Fighting against the Tiger (Long Hu Dou), Taiye Chicken (Taiye Ji) and Stewed Wild Dog Meat.

 

Cantonese Dim Sum
Shuang Pi Nai (Double-Skin Milk): Nanxin Shuang Pi Nai is the specialty of Nanxin Milk Store on the Xia Jiu Lu. Simmered milk has a frozen cover made of the mixture of egg white and milk, Hence the name Double-Skin Milk.


Jidi Zhou (Jidi Porridge): Jidi Zhou served in the Wuzhan Ji Restaurant is the most famous of all. It has been a noted snack bar since the early 1900s.

 

Yuntun Mian (Wonton Noodle): Go to Shangxia Jiu Lu, Xihua Lu and Renmin Lu. You will find many eateries that serve Wonton Noodles. Cantonese like to have the delicious Yuntun Miao for breakfast.


Chang Fen (Steamed Vermicelli Roll): This featured snack is popular among local people. It is now a must-serve in nearly all teahouses and night markets.

It is located in the Liwan District of Xiguan, a prosperous traditional commercial district. Teem Plaza is the most famous department store. By Subway
Take Subway Line 3 and get off at Meihuayuan Station. Walk about 1,200 meters to the Plum Garden of White Cloud Mountain.

Take bus 24, 240, 285, Tourism Bus Line 3 and get off at Yuntai Garden Bus Station; or take bus 32, 46, 60, 127, 175, 179, 199, 223, 240, 241, 257, 298, 540, 543, 615, 841, 891 and get off at White Cloud Telpher (Baiyun Suodao) Station.
White Cloud Mountain West Gate
Take bus 36, 38, 76, 127, 223, 245, 265, 891 and get off at White Cloud Mountain West Gate (Baiyunshan Ximen) Station.

 

2. Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family
By Subway
Take Guangzhou Subway Line 1 to Chenjiaci Station. Leave from Exit C to Chenjiaci Square or Exit D to the main entrance.

3. Lotus Hill
By Subway
Take subway line 4 to Shiqi station or Subway Line 3 to Shiqiao Station. Get on bus to Lotus Hill at the entrance of the subway station (CNY2/single). Walk about 5 minutes after you get off the bus and you will get to the gate of Lotus Hill.

 

By Bus
Take express busses to Lotus Hill from Guangzhou (CNY10, estimated journey time: 40mins).

 

4. Shamian Island
By Subway
Take Subway Line 1 to Huangsha station. Get out from Exit D and walk through an overpass to the bridge to Shamian Island.

 

By bus: Walk about 90m from Guangzhou Railway Station to Guangzhou Railway Station Bus Terminal, take bus no. 823 to City Hospital of Traditional Medicine, and then walk about 110m. Or take bus 9, 38, 105, 208, 219, 236, 270 or 556 to Huangsha Wharf Station. Then walk to Shamian Island in the south. 


5. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall
By Subway
Take Guangzhou Subway Line 2 and get off at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Station. Get out from Exit D and find the memorial hall.

 

By Bus
Take bus 27, 133, 185, 204, 209, 224, 229, 261, 276, 283, 284, 289 or 293 and get off at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Station.

6. Temple of Six Banyan Trees
By Subway
Take Subway Line 1 or Subway Line 2 to Gongyuanqian Station and get out from Exit B. Walk five minutes to the temple.

Take bus 12, 215 to Liurong Road Station or 74, 85, 88, 102, 104, 107, 193, 233, 250, 286 to Zhongshan Liulu Station.
